The ever-ready to entertain PG Darren has announced some details about One Stop Shop in Tinseltown Mall hosting Shattered Grounds. Here’s what Darren said on vancouvergamers.com:
Darren sez:
So I’ll be running the League again at the store. The main Warmachine day is Thursdays and I’m going to try to host a final event this time as well.
Also I was talking to some of the Victoria guys at Gottacon and they we’re interested in combining our leagues together, so I’ll let you guys know how thats going to work once I get a little more info from them about it.
From the Privateer Press Website: The kick off to the 2011 WARMACHINE and HORDES league season launches February 7th! The Shattered Grounds league throws players right into the trenches of the Iron Kingdoms with a wholly immersive experience as they fight for the glory of their faction.
Each season focuses on a specific location in the Iron Kingdoms that players worldwide will battle to control, and each season brings players new, original fiction detailing some of the men, machines, and beasts of these conflicts. Join the fight and determine the fate of the Iron Kingdoms with Shattered Grounds league events! Tour 1 of the 2011 league season takes place in the Windless Wastes, where Khador, Cygnar, and Pirate forces square off. Each player that participates in the league will receive a unique Windless Wastes rank insignia patch. As the 2011 Shattered Grounds leagues continue, each participating player will receive another rank insignia patch that adds to the prior patches to form a higher rank.

In case you missed it in bold, above, OSS hosts HordesMachine on Thursdays. Plenty of gaming to go around.
I had an opportunity to drop down to One Stop and play a game on Thursday. Typically I am busy then but an evening opened up and so I headed down with my Magnus force for a game.
Trent and I arranged to meet to have a 50pt game with his Shea Tier force based on the spoiled tier list from the PP forums. I brought a Tier 4 Magnus list:

I was down at One Stop for the tournament that was supposed to run today. Sadly Ben and I were the only people to show up. Even Darren cancelled due to other commitments. On a brighter note though Ben and I were able to get in a 35pt game with my Magnus Agenda force against his Cygnar army. I’ll be posting a battle report and photos later (also of the game I got later with Sam and his Cygnar army) but the most important thing that came out of the games today was how much I enjoyed the Magnus force and how dramatically different Ben played against it than he does my Cryx force.
I think that perhaps Cryx was not the best force to use to get back into Warmachine. At least for me. Cryx is more of a rapier force that needs some finesse and planning and I’m still at the “hit it till it stops moving” phase of my tactics.
I had so much fun in fact that I will be expanding the Magnus Agenda force and will be working on using that as my main army for the next while as I figure out the game more and get better at tactics, placement and the game in general. Once I get some more experience under my belt I’ll go back and check out my Cryx army.
Last Sunday Ben and I went to One Stop to have a massive, for me, 100pt Warmachine Mk II battle. We started at noon and I think that we only managed to finish 3 and a half turns before I had to go. It was an insane game as we had way too many figs to use properly (at least I think) and even working at breakneck speed the game often bogged down as we both considered the best way to move our troops or take out an opponent.
Despite this I had a lot of fun but I’m certainly not trying something like this again until I get a bit more experience with my army and with the game. You can see a gallery of some, blurry, photos that I took that show some of the action.

Some photos take at the 100pt melee that Ben and I played at One Stop last Sunday. Check out my battle report and hopefully Ben will have some time to post his thoughts as well.

I’ve made some small changes to the proposed 100pt list for my game this weekend. I removed Skarre from the list. The Withershadow Combine can allow any Caster with them in their Control Area to upkeep a spell for free and this is wasted with Skarre. I’ve added the Cankerworm (seems smart if I am using Asphyxious) and put Deneghra in the list instead of Skarre. It seems more fitting thematically.

Ben “Whipping Boy” Wafer and I will be having a 100pt game this weekend at One Stop pitting the might of Cryx against Ben’s effete electro-weenie Cygnar army. I like to re-iterate Ben’s “winning” of the Whipping Boy trophy at the last Steamroller even to salve my own wounded ego about my inability to beat him since then.
This will be my first 100pt game using the Mk II rules and I think it will be the biggest game of Warmachine I have ever played and certainly my first game with two casters.
This is the tentative list I will be bringing.

Will posted a report of his recent 150pt Menoth v. Khador game against Nick on the Vancouver Gamers forum. I’ve reposted it here.
The 150-point throwdown ended up with a victory for Khador. It was a pretty ridiculous game, and lasted a good 2 or 3 hours longer than Nick or I anticipated. This is the list I played:
Casters: pKreoss, pSeverius, eFeora,
Heavy Jacks: Avatar, Crusader, Castigator, Reckoner, Vanquisher
Light Jacks: 2xRevenger, 2x Redeemer, 2xDevout, Repenter
Units: TFG, Zealots, Idrians, Cleansers, K.Exemplars, Deliverers, Sunburst, Rhoven, Bastions, Daughters, 2xChoir
Solos: Covenant, Paladin, Seneschal, Hierophant, Reclaimer, Vilmon, 2xVassalNick took Karchev, eButcher and the assault kommando dude who I can’t remember the name of. He also took 11 heavies (inc. 3 Devastators) and 8 Manowars. I think I outnumbered him a by a good 2-1 ratio.
On March 25th, I wanted to head down to One Stop Shop and get a game in during the regular Thursday night Warmachine meet-up. But what to bring to the table? The buzz on the Skorne forums after the “Final” field test update has mostly surround epic Morghoul. Between the January 29th update and final update, Morghoul was the most transformed Skorne warlock, which led to a lot of discussion (and even some impassioned ranting) surrounding the Lord Assassin. What better way to solidify my thoughts on his new incarnation than to ask him, very politely, if he wouldn’t mind leading some troops into battle for me? (more…)
One Stop has posted details of their Shattered Grounds Nightfall League.
The first season of Shattered Grounds is upon us! The Nightfall Shattered Grounds league season takes place in the northern expanse of the Scharde Islands comprising Garlghast Island and the smaller neighboring islands across the Dying Strands. It is a region fully embraced by Toruk’s blight, where even pirates and traders begin to feel the dragon’s taint after any degree of regular exposure.
Start Date – Thursday April 8, 2010
The league will be on for 3 weeks so there will be plenty of chances to earn your stamps, remember the store is open till 12:00AM!!! We have a lot of new players at the store so here’s your chance to play with someone you’ve never played agaist before.
Please register in store or by contacting your Press Ganger so that they can order you a league journal (which is good for the whole year!!!) and league scorecard. Feel free to post on here if you want to sign up!
Get out there and play!
