I’ll have to take some photos to show it off but Chad dropped off the eGoreshade that he painted for me. Not only is it the usual stunning work we all expect from Chad but it was done in an evening.
I am slowly working my way through the various Cryx casters and unless they add a ton of them in Wrath I might have them all painted up fairly soon.
So I started working on my Cryx for the Reasonable Dream Challenge. Well not entirely. I say down to start painting some Cryx and so what did I do? Started painting Terminus who isn’t even on my list :-(
I am not sure why but what it did do is make me think about redoing my list and adding two different warcasters. The main reason for this is that I don’t actually like Epic Skarre and Goreshade sounds like fun but not anywhere near as fun as Terminus :-) How can you not like someone who tosses Thralls in the way to deflect ranged attacks?

Ben ‘Whipping Boy’ Wafer came over yesterday for an impromptu game of Warmchaine. Ben brought Caine and 50pts of Cygnar and I used Deneghra and built a 50pt Tier 4 list with an incredible number of Bonejacks. I say that the game was impromptu because Ben’s intended opponent didn’t show up (a recent injury kept him away) and so Ben played my hastily assembled Cryx force.
Not that the time available was an impediment to building the list since the Deneghra Tier list is fairly prohibitive in what you can take and emphasises the use of a lot of Bonejacks. So creating an army from this themed list is actually quite simple since a lot of the options are basically made for you in advance.
Sadly there are no pictures of this game.

Before I started working on my Circle force I thought that I would take a look back at all of the Cryx figures that I have painted since starting on the army at the beginning of the year. You’ll have to excuse the single, long-distance, photo but the rest were sadly too fuzzy for posting.

Prior to starting out my adventure in Hordes tree-hugging with the new Circle army I finished off a few of my Cryx figures. The Vancouver Gamers Pax Qualifier is this weekend and that may be the last time the Cryx army sees the light of a gaming table for some time as I want to focus on my Circle army for the Hordes Battle Challenge.
What I managed to finish was Venethrax and a unit of Satyxis Blood Witches and the Hag. Venethrax was actually a bit more fun to paint than I thought but the Blood Witches were a pion in the ass and got a very quick and dirty paint job. They, along with the Raiders, have far, far too much fiddly detail for a model intended to be fielded in units of ten. I got them done with the barest minimum of painting. Its interesting to compare them to the unit of Bile Thralls I did where I promised myself I would paint them quickly but then found myself shading the hosing on the models and doing multiple washes and highlights on them.
I’m glad they are done but I have to say that I hope I never have to paint a unit of Satyxis, of any type, any time in the near future.
The models still need to be sealed and once I have them sealed I’ll post some photos.
I picked up the new Privateer Press Warmachine tokens today and had a chance to pop the package open and have a look at them. There are two main types of tokens, status counters like focus, souls and Corrosion markers and three different sets of markers for spells and other effects.

Welcome to the first of what I hope are a series of posts looking at the various Cryx Tier lists. These articles will be written from the perspective of building 35 or 50 point Warmachine army lists using the Tier Lists. We’ll look at the restrictions of each list, the required point costs and some of the options available assuming a force that will use all four Tiers.
The subject of our first examination is Terminus and his Ghost Fleet. Prior to the release of the Cryx I was looking forward to a Pirate themed Skarre force but it turns out that the choice for fans of Revenants isn’t Skarre but the towering Lich Lord Terminus.

A few days ago I was commenting on the sizes of Venthrax and Epic Asphyxios. Clearly I hadn’t run into Terminus :-) I recently picked up a copy of the Lich version of Kharchev and he is a monster. Even without the wings he dwarfs every other Warcaster In the Cryx army and with them he dwarfs every model in the game.
I have a crazy urge to put him and the Deathjack in the same army :-)
The last two Cryx units I am painting are now on the painting table. Venthrax is actually almost done and will be ready for the Warmachine game day at my house on the 4th. I also hope to finish my unit of Satysix Blood Witches and the Hag for the same game. Once those are done I’ll be putting aside my Cryx to concentrate on painting my Circle force for the TGN Hordes Battle Challenge.
I done quite a bit of assembly and priming this week. I put together:
Epic Asphyxious
2 x Soul Hunters
5 x Black Ogryn
Warwitch
Blood Witch Hag
Satyxis Raider Captain
Those are all ready, but unpainted, and might see some gaming in the next week as well.
I took some time this evening to finish assembling some more figures for my Cryx army. This evening I put together a full Black Ogryn unit, the new Iron Lich figure, another Warwitch and I did some repairs to one of the Soulhunters. I’m hoping to have all the bases sanded and the figures primed this weekend as I want to use some of them in our next Warmachine gaming day.
I think that the Black Ogryn will prove handy when fighting the Skorne or Protectorate who have access to a lot of units with Shieldwall and high ARM.
