I’ve made a huge mistake

I am not sure what happened between MK I and MK II but after some games and some wading I have to say that I am really not all that interested in the Circle faction for Hordes.

Perhaps picking Baldur as my first Circle cast after a few months of plating Cryx was a bad idea. He is quite defensive and not rally the same play experience as a Cryx army filled with Thralls and Reapers.

In any case I am going to be pushing the Circle minis to the side for the moment and working on a Legion force instead. Perhaps a Lylth list with a horde of 2 point Warbeasts?

Circle v Farrow Battle Royale

Local Beatstick owner/operator Nick came over on Sunday with his Lord Carver Farrow force to have a few games against my nascent Circle army. This is the Circle army I am painting up for the TGN Hordes Battle Challenge and Nick has just recently picked up his minis so there are a lot of unpainted pewter minis in this report. Photos of the game are at the end of the report.

Warpborn Skinwalkers FTW

When I got NQ31 this weekend I saw the art for the Warpborn Skinwalkers and was quite interested in the models. But when I saw the preview that Privateer Press posted today I was immediately sold. These figs are “full of win” as the kids say and are a bit of a blessing for me as a Circle player. I want some big beatstick units but I really don’t like the Tharn Ravagers. These models not only bring the hurt but look amazing.

I can’t wait for these to come out and I am already thinking of fielding two units of them.

Started my Circle force

The Tabletop Gaming News Hordes Battle Challenge started this week and I am in the midst of starting to assemble and start painting my Circle force.

So I did a bit of assembly and basing the last few days. I put together and sanded the bases for

  • Baldur
  • Druids
  • Druid Overseer
  • Blackclad Wayfarer
  • Wold Guardian
  • Woldwarden
  • Woldwyrd
  • Shifting Stones

Tomorrow or Friday these will all get primed and then I will start on painting Baldur, the Woldwarden and the Woldwyrd. Once those are done I’ll get to work on the Druids and the Overseer.

Rethinking Hordes choice

When I started getting back into Warmachine and Hordes I made a decision to play factions that I hadn’t previously played. While I started playing Warmachine with a Cryx army I actually spent most of my gaming time with a Khador army and so I decided to start a Cryx force. The same logic was behind my decision to play Legion. I actually like the Legion models and fluff and I had already played a lot of Circle and Trollblood games previously.

That said, I finally decided to actually start a Circle force again. I really like the background, the models and the idea of running an army of Druids and Constructs. There may have been some other factors that tilted me to playing Circle.

I’ve started collecting Druid figs again in preparation for the July Hordes Builder program we’ll be running on TGN for the release of Hordes Mk II.

The decision left is whether I want to keep the Legion figs to run as a second Hordes faction or not.

Sunday gaming at One Stop

I managed to get away on Sunday for two games of Hordesmachine at One Stop Cards and Games. Ben “Whipping Boy” Wafer was down as were Darren and Veronica.

Ben and I faced off first with Ben’s Cygnar army and my “WTF”? Cryx force made up of minis I thought would be fun to use. As you can imagine that army was less that optimal but I had fun and got to use some new figs. At least for a little while
