I keep coming back to take a peek at the goaliejack. I'm lovin it. :D

Needs a pic of the goaliejack in front of a screen with Lu on it though. That would be the icing on the cake. ;)

The only correction to my army list is that the Journeyman costs 3 points instead of 2 (it would only add up to 55 points otherwise).

Forgetting to switch Arcane Shield from the Charger to Nemo on turn 2 was a big mistake - I had planned it from before the game even began, but the timed turns made it slip my mind.

Also, I definitely shouldn't have wasted my extension early on an inconsequential turn. If I had had just a few minutes more on my assassination run turn, I could have activated that Hammersmith, and do the charge-push-beatback-chain-attack-slam shenanigans that I had planned to knock down (and hopefully injure) the Butcher prior to zapping him with the Thunderhead's 3 shots. Skipping the Hammersmith because I didn't have time to activate both him and the Thunderhead meant that rolling crappy on that first to-hit screwed up my sustained attack and ruined my chances.

Man oh man, I'm glad I'm not doing any Hardcore tournaments any time soon... I just can't handle the 7 minute turns.

I agree, basecoating can be daunting, but mentally I always tell myself "once this part is done I'm practically finished the model!" Even if it's not really true...

And yes, we need to organize another challenge! I've still got another 109 points of Cygnar waiting to be painted, let alone my Mercenaries and other armies...

Holy cow, what a marathon. When you said you'd been going at it straight for the last two weeks, I had kind of assumed that was hyperbole. I totally feel you on the monotony of painting similar models... But for me, I actually find that the whole basecoating stage is kind of daunting. As soon as I'm doing second coats, shading and highlighting, the perceived increase in quality vs time spent really gets me on a roll.

Cygnar has some pretty sweet models - I find the jacks have a lot of character in their scultps. The storm tower is pretty awesome too. I'm digging Styker and Nemo, but I'd be lying if I said I was looking forward to facing Darth Stryker. ;)

Great job Ben! I guess we should organise another challenge, particularly if I want to have a force painted for hardcore at Lock and Load... I promise I'll join in this time.

I feel better knowing that I'm not the only procrastinating panic-painter. It's the only way I've ever gotten any Blood Bowl teams painted. :D
Can't wait for part 2 - more peekatures!

Yes, I too suffer from painting laziness. If I don't have some sort of deadline for when I have to have things painted by (whether it's for an event, or a self-imposed deadline), I never paint anything. Which is odd, because I do enjoy painting, but I never do it unless I'm under some sort of pressure to do it.

That's why I jump at the chance to join any painting challenge or slow grow league, and why I'm strict with myself about my personal "if it's not painted, I can't use it for a tournament" rule. If not, I'd probably have a half dozen painted Cygnar models at most.

I'm as shocked as anyone that I started painting my Khador. It's not that I don't like painting - I actually enjoy it. It's just that I'm lazy. And its easy to be intimidated by the spiffy paint jobs that some of the locals produce *cough*dirtycygnaranplayersforexample*cough*.

Part of why I started is that I bought the Butcher from Ryan and it was already painted. I figured I owed the axe murdere a painted retinue. Jacks are also less intimidating to paint than Skorne beasts. :P

As if we didn't all know where you stand on the game vs hobby thing... I'm still shocked that you've started painting your Khador at all!

Out of curiosity I just checked using Forward Kommander, and for my Cygnar (I didn't check my other armies because most of them were bought second hand and already painted, while my Cygnar is all my own work) I've got 232 models owned, 69% painted.

Oh, and shockingly enough, Will was not at the helm of a Menite force for this league. He seems to have become a heretic and a mercenary. Hmm, or perhaps he's just bringing the Menite faith to the mercenaries of Rhul? Either way it seems to be working. I've only lost 2 games in the last 3 or 4 weeks (out of 7 or 8 games), and one of those was the only game I've played against Will in that time frame. It turns out that wiping out almost his entire army wasn't a good strategy, as immediately afterward Will simply said "I'm going to win now," and proceeded to do so. At least that's how I remember it.

If Trent had beat me last night, he would have taken first place. It was close, too, as the eStryker guided missile only barely managed to pull off a caster kill. If I had whiffed on one more to hit roll, my caster would have been in serious trouble, since the damage I inflicted on myself by overloading my armour left poor Darth Stryker with only 2 wounds left, and he was badly exposed to counter-attack.

I think you're right Ben, I surely can't have meant what I wrote. Someone drugged me! They were wearing a patchworth quilted fur jacket, and smelled of bear dung. They threatened to hunt all of the slow-moving, low defense, single-would game animals off my lands unless I spread those vicious lies about them. :(

You're absolutely correct that it was someone from Dice Bag Games who lent me the mini. Upon checking out their facebook page that you linked to, I can now tell you that it was Colin (I didn't catch his name while I was there, and I'm terrible with names anyway, so I likely would have immediately forgotten it if I had). I was really impressed with him.

You’re absolutely correct that it was someone from Dice Bag Games who lent me the mini. Upon checking out their facebook page that you linked to, I can now tell you that it was Colin (I didn’t catch his name while I was there, and I’m terrible with names anyway, so I likely would have immediately forgotten it if I had). I was really impressed with him.

Ah yes I remember it well. I believe that is a shot of me trying not to cry; "Iron Flesh" and the Old Witch's Feat ruined my day.

With the unit attachment, they're really very similar to Longgunners with their own unit attachment. The most important differences are that they're only RNG 12 instead of 14, their slightly higher SPD and pathfinder means it's easier to reposition them, they have less access to ranged buffs (Snipe, Deadeye, Rangers marking targets, etc), and they're cheaper. The main advice I would give you for using them (based on my own use of Longgunners) is that they have a tendency to be a static unit, since you'll usually want them to stand still in order to get the aiming bonus and be able to shoot twice. Build your battle plan around expecting them to largely stay in the same spot, but don't be afraid to have them move and shoot either, if the situation warrants it! Especially if you want to lay down some covering fire... Oh, and a single massive CRA is impressive (2 if you're standing still), but realistically it's rarely the best option.
