Circle v Farrow Battle Royale

Local Beatstick owner/operator Nick came over on Sunday with his Lord Carver Farrow force to have a few games against my nascent Circle army. This is the Circle army I am painting up for the TGN Hordes Battle Challenge and Nick has just recently picked up his minis so there are a lot of unpainted pewter minis in this report. Photos of the game are at the end of the report.

Warmachine @ Strategies

Today was the first gaming day, at Strategies, for the Warmachine Blasted Heath League. Strategies is one of the only stores in the city that has an “all painted” policy and so I had to make sure that my Satyxis Raiders were finished so I would be able to field an all-painted army or two.

Magnus v. Shae at One Stop

I had an opportunity to drop down to One Stop and play a game on Thursday. Typically I am busy then but an evening opened up and so I headed down with my Magnus force for a game.

Trent and I arranged to meet to have a 50pt game with his Shea Tier force based on the spoiled tier list from the PP forums. I brought a Tier 4 Magnus list:

100pt Cryx v Cygnar battle report

Last Sunday Ben and I went to One Stop to have a massive, for me, 100pt Warmachine Mk II battle. We started at noon and I think that we only managed to finish 3 and a half turns before I had to go. It was an insane game as we had way too many figs to use properly (at least I think) and even working at breakneck speed the game often bogged down as we both considered the best way to move our troops or take out an opponent.

Despite this I had a lot of fun but I’m certainly not trying something like this again until I get a bit more experience with my army and with the game. You can see a gallery of some, blurry, photos that I took that show some of the action.

100pt Cryx v Cygnar photos

Some photos take at the 100pt melee that Ben and I played at One Stop last Sunday. Check out my battle report and hopefully Ben will have some time to post his thoughts as well.

150pt league game at One Stop

Will posted a report of his recent 150pt Menoth v. Khador game against Nick on the Vancouver Gamers forum. I’ve reposted it here.

The 150-point throwdown ended up with a victory for Khador. It was a pretty ridiculous game, and lasted a good 2 or 3 hours longer than Nick or I anticipated. This is the list I played:

Casters: pKreoss, pSeverius, eFeora,
Heavy Jacks: Avatar, Crusader, Castigator, Reckoner, Vanquisher
Light Jacks: 2xRevenger, 2x Redeemer, 2xDevout, Repenter
Units: TFG, Zealots, Idrians, Cleansers, K.Exemplars, Deliverers, Sunburst, Rhoven, Bastions, Daughters, 2xChoir
Solos: Covenant, Paladin, Seneschal, Hierophant, Reclaimer, Vilmon, 2xVassal

Nick took Karchev, eButcher and the assault kommando dude who I can’t remember the name of. He also took 11 heavies (inc. 3 Devastators) and 8 Manowars. I think I outnumbered him a by a good 2-1 ratio.

Your Go Games Steamroller tourney

Dan at Your Go Games held a Steamroller event on April 10th, 2010 and I took my Cryx figs down to test them out.

I took two army lists, using Skarre and Deneghra, that represented the painted figures that I had and not necessarily the best armies I could build with the minis I had. You can see all the photos from the event in this gallery.

Easter Weekend Gaming at Connections – report part 1

As promised, I have just taken place in a couple of solid days of Warmachine and Hordes gaming.  This post will focus on the game I played on Friday, April 2nd, with a couple of mentions to other action that went down.

Friday saw a middlin’ size group of us show up to throw down.  Old stalwarts Dylan and Trolland showed up ready for battle.  A few players new to Warmachine also ventured forth:  rancidtwinkie, gds23 and lorenz.  If there was anyone else that showed up for a game, I must have been distracted by the carnage on the table in front of me. Lord Assassin Morghoul’s Runners and Gunners at One Stop Shop

On March 25th, I wanted to head down to One Stop Shop and get a game in during the regular Thursday night Warmachine meet-up.  But what to bring to the table?  The buzz on the Skorne forums after the “Final” field test update has mostly surround epic Morghoul.  Between the January 29th update and final update, Morghoul was the most transformed Skorne warlock, which led to a lot of discussion (and even some impassioned ranting) surrounding the Lord Assassin.  What better way to solidify my thoughts on his new incarnation than to ask him, very politely, if he wouldn’t mind leading some troops into battle for me? Subhedgehog’s Salute 2010 Steamroller Report – part 2

So in the first part of my tournament battle reports I managed a couple of quick wins due to the always impertinent Titan Gladiator and some poor positioning on the part of my opponents.  This put me ahead of the curve in the swiss pairing system – my next opponent had also won his first two matches.  His two lists, he explained to me, were exactly the same with the exception of the caster.  As he spent a few moments refreshing my memory as to how bad epic Sorscha’s feat was going to hurt me, I figured (correctly, it would turn out) that this would be his caster of choice.  I considered my options.  I thought that the Cetrati brick would be quickly shattered under eSorscha’s feat, so I went with my titan herd, hoping the three heavies would weather the icy assault and that Morghoul’s higher defense would give me a chance to do some damage.
